Rena has been involved in the sensory and consumer sciences for more than 25 years. She earned both her Bachelor and Master of Science degrees from the University of Florida in Food Science and Human Nutrition with emphasis on sensory evaluation, completed the Applied Sensory and Consumer Science Certificate Program from UC Davis (then called the 'Applied Sensory Science and Consumer Testing Certificate Program for Distance Learners'), and received a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Retailing and Consumer Sciences with a minor in Social Psychology from the University of Arizona. Rena gained professional experience at the University of Florida and Henkel/Dial where she honed her expertise with all manner of innovations, foods and household products (including laundry care, household cleaners and insecticides). She also has vast research experience in sustainability/conservation and social responsibility and is well-versed in quantitative and qualitative techniques, including experience as a trained moderator. Rena is a member of a number of professional and honorary organizations, including the Institute of Food Technologists, the Society of Sensory Professionals, and Phi Tau Sigma (Honor Society for Food Science and Technology). In addition, Rena served as an Instructor of Record at the University of Arizona for several years, teaching undergraduate courses in research methods and statistics both in-person and online.
